Every specialist asks the same questions. Now you'll have the answers in one place.

When did the meltdowns start getting worse? Was that before or after the medication change? Did you already try the reward chart? What did the paediatrician say last time?

If you're parenting or caring for a child with challenging behaviour, you're the one holding all of it: the history, the appointments, the medications, the strategies that worked and the ones that didn't. You repeat it to every new doctor, teacher and therapist, usually while exhausted and trying to remember details from months ago.

The Family Care File puts all of it in one organised system, so you can walk into every appointment prepared, with real information instead of guesses.

What makes it different

Most trackers record one thing. This system connects everything. Your behaviour log, medication records, strategy tracker and weekly summaries work together, so you can actually see patterns, like a medication change followed by calmer mornings, or hard moments that always land around 4pm on days your child barely ate lunch. That's exactly the kind of information doctors and specialists want, and it's hard to remember on the spot.

What's included

  • About my child: a one-page profile covering triggers, early warning signs and what helps, to hand to teachers, specialists, respite workers or family
  • Care team directory: every doctor, specialist and support worker, with contact details in one place
  • Appointment prep and notes: what's changed, your top three questions, and what was decided before you leave the room
  • Current medications list, weekly medication log and medication change record, so you always know what changed, when, and what you noticed after
  • Behaviour and symptom log: a quick way to record what happened before, during and after hard moments
  • Strategy tracker: what you tried, whether it worked, and whether to keep, tweak or drop it
  • Weekly summary: five minutes a week to spot patterns and note what to raise at the next appointment
  • A complete filled-in example, following a child through several weeks, so you can see exactly how it all works

Designed for tired days

Most pages take under two minutes. You log the hard moments, not every moment. And if you miss a week, the system still works: some information is always better than none.

Why I made this

Before becoming a stay-at-home mum, I worked as a youth worker supporting children in care who had experienced trauma and were living with multiple mental health conditions and diagnoses.

At work, the mental load was shared. Caseworkers, carers, clinicians and support workers each held a piece of it, and we had tracking tools, shared notes and handovers to keep everyone on the same page. Even then, it was a lot.

When you're the parent, it usually falls on one person, maybe two. You're the one remembering every appointment, every medication change, every strategy you've tried, and what each specialist said, on top of everything else family life asks of you.

The Family Care File takes the kind of tools that helped our team spot patterns and keep track, and makes them simple enough for one tired parent at the kitchen table. It won't carry the load for you, but it gives you somewhere to put it down.
